Description

Satya - Necklace mala solace of spirit
The mala, the traditional prayer necklace of 108 beads, means "meditation garland" in Sanskrit. Malas have their roots in Hinduism and Buddhism and were used by yogis and other seekers to focus the mind during meditation by running their fingers over the beads to recite affirmations. The symbolism of the mala is rich and can be seen as a metaphor for life: Each bead represents a truth; the small knot between each bead is a challenge to the smoother, more beautiful aspects of life. The number of beads in a mala – 108 – is considered sacred in Vedic culture and represents the wholeness of existence. A variation of the mala, such as a bracelet mala, has a number of beads in each variation of the number 9 - another sacred number in yoga that corresponds to 108.

Designed with intention
Satya jewellery is designed with love in New York City. Each design begins with an intention - what it should evoke and how it should inspire - and is brought to life by a creative team. After 30 days of intensive yoga training in the Bahamas, New York designer Satya had a dream to make jewellery to support children in need. Together with her partner Beth, she made this dream come true and founded the Satya Foundation. Semi-precious stones and sacred symbols are lovingly handcrafted to stunning jewelery pieces. They become beautiful, meaningful and powerfully inspiring pieces that honour the infinite potential of all who wear them. For more than 15 years, a portion of all sales has now been donated. The label has also enjoyed international success thanks to the outstanding quality of the materials used.
